RV carports, boat covers & RV garages / Sacramento, Placer & El Dorado

RV & boat covers.
Ready for the next trip.

Plan an RV carport, boat cover or enclosed RV garage around the vehicle you actually own. Height, trailer length and the approach to your parking space matter as much as the building footprint.

Independent project inquiries · Permission before an introduction

A motorhome under a tall metal cover with visible roof clearance.
Configuration, foundation, dimensions and site suitability require review.

Start with the vehicle

Know the clearance.
Then choose the cover.

Have the vehicle specifications? Use them as a starting point. If you do not, describe the vehicle and leave exact dimensions open for review.

  • Full height: include roof air conditioning, racks, vents and other equipment.
  • Full length: include the trailer tongue, hitch, rear accessories or outboard motor.
  • Working width: explain door access, mirrors and whether you need slide-outs or storage space.
  • Approach: note turning space, gates, trees, slopes and the path into and out of the cover.

A quoted eave height is not automatically the clear height beneath braces, openings or door hardware. Ask for usable clearances.

Metal boat covers

Keep the boat covered.
Leave room to launch.

Plan for the whole setup: boat, trailer, hitch, motor and any windshield or top. A useful cover also leaves room to hitch up and pull out.

  • Overall length: measure through the trailer tongue and any rear equipment.
  • Highest point: include the windshield, tower or top in the position you intend to store it.
  • Access: describe turning space and the path between the driveway and cover.

Three starting configurations

Open, partly enclosed
or a full garage.

Describe your weather exposure and how you use the vehicle. A provider must assess the right configuration for the site.

01 / Options to discuss

Open RV carport

Covered parking with open access. Describe the vehicle, roof preferences and the usable clearance you need.

02 / Options to discuss

Boat or trailer cover

Include trailer length and access around the boat. A covered space can have different needs from everyday car parking.

03 / Options to discuss

Enclosed RV garage

Ask about the clear door opening as well as the interior. Door configuration and California availability need separate confirmation.

Dimensions still unknown?

Start with “RV / boat cover” and add what you know. You can change the preselected open-cover option to an enclosed garage.

Sacramento, Placer & El Dorado

The vehicle is one part.
The site is the other.

Projects around Lincoln, Loomis, Auburn, Cameron Park, Placerville and Pollock Pines can differ in access, elevation, terrain and reviewing authority. A city name alone does not determine the design requirements.

Keep site preparation, anchoring or foundation, delivery access and permit responsibilities visible in the quote. Wind and snow requirements must be confirmed for the actual site.

Review installation and site scope →
Is an RV carport the same as RV storage?

This site is for proposed covers or buildings on a project site. It does not offer RV parking spaces, storage rentals or campground reservations.

Can I use a standard garage door for an RV?

Do not assume that a typical garage opening will work. Describe the full vehicle height and width and request the actual clear opening. Roll-up and sectional overhead doors differ, and local product availability must be confirmed.

Can the cover attach to my existing building?

Record that preference for review. Attachment, loads, drainage, setbacks and the existing building need assessment; a lean-to option is not automatic permission to attach a structure.

Local Building and Permit Resources

Start with the department that reviews your property. These county resources are a starting point for unincorporated areas. Inside an incorporated city, check that city’s building department.

Intended use, elevation, access and site conditions require review. A mailing city or ZIP alone does not establish jurisdiction or requirements. This inquiry does not provide engineering or permit approval.
